Three of My Favorite Ways to use Dina Wakley Media Board with Dina Wakley

Media Board is a unique and cool surface. It's like chipboard or book board, but one side has canvas on it and one side has a paper backing. Because of the way its made, you can cut it with a knife and ruler or with a guillotine-type paper cutter. That means that the creative possibilities are as high as the sky! Here are three of my favorite ways to use Media Board.
1. Wall Hangings
I love to create on pieces of the board, and then punch holes in the boards (I use my Crop-a-Dile) and connect them with Idea-ology by Tim Holtz Mini Book Rings. You could create all sorts of constructions, and join them with book rings, twine, ribbon, string, etc. My CHA project from last January was a wall-hanging (see this post for a few pictures of it:
here).
Here's another wall hanging idea for you. I simply painted the boards and then connected them with the mini book rings. It is a striking piece.

Products used: Dina Wakley Media board, Dina Wakley Media Acrylic (Blackberry, Lemon with the Fine Line Tip Applicator, Ocean, Night, Penny with the Fine Line Tip Applicator), Fudeball black pen, Idea-ology Tissue Wrap, Archival Jet Black ink, Dina Wakley Media Gesso and Gel Medium, Scribbly Wings stamp set.
2. Book Covers
When I started art journaling in 2004/2005, we had to make our own books because there weren't many journal options available for purchase. I still love to make books. The Media Board makes perfect book covers! Here I used two small scraps of board as the cover for the accordion book.

Products used: Dina Wakley Media Board, Ranger Watercolor Paper, Dina Wakley Media Acrylic (Lemon, Sky, Blackberry, Night, Sterling with the Fine Line Applicator Tip), Sketched Faces and Scribbled Text Elements stamp sets, DWM Gesso and Gel Medium, Archival Jet Black ink, small Mini Favorites stencil from the Michaels stamp set, Idea-ology Small Talk stickers, Idea-ology Tissue Wrap.
3. Framed Art
Why not paint a few pieces of Media Board and then frame them for a sophisticated presentation? Here I took three pieces of board and created backgrounds and collages on them. The frame is an old IKEA frame that I never used in my new house, but I didn't throw it away because I knew I could put cool art in it. I painted a large piece of paper with Dina Wakley Media Black Gesso and then mounted the Media Board pieces on the paper in the frame.

Products used: Dina Wakley Media Board, Scribbly Birds in Flight and Gals and Borders stamp sets, Paint Comb, Bullseye and Halves stencils, DWM Gesso (white and black), DWM Acrylic (Turquoise, Lime, Night, Cheddar, Fuchsia, Penny with Fine Line Applicator Tip), Archival Jet Black ink, text paper, Idea-ology Small Talk stickers, Idea-ology Tissue Wrap.

What else can you do with Media Board? How about:
- board books
- creating buildings, houses, etc
- making boxes to hold cards, etc
- use it any time you want a nice, textured presentation for your artwork!
If you've used Media Board, be sure to tag me so I can oooh and aaah over your work. Have fun!
