Do you make your holiday cards? Try looking at your stamps and thinking of a way to make them festive and fun. I made holiday cards with my Scribbly Birds stamps by doing colorful backgrounds and dressing the birds up with tinsel, stars, and fun hats.
To start these cards, I created a fun mixed-media background on a piece of watercolor paper. I did lots of stenciling with my Dina Wakley Media paints. My line currently only has one green, Lime. I knew I'd want more greens, so I mixed a custom color by combining small amounts of Lapis with the Lime paint. The result is a pretty hunter green. I also spilled some Polished Jade Dylusions on the background, and added some metallic circles with Ranger's new foil sheets.
Once I had the background done, I simply cut it up and used it on each card in a different way. One card has lots of the background, one card has a few scalloped strips of it.To make the cards festive and sparkly, I added Idea-logy mirrored stars and Diamond Stickles. To make the hats, I painted a tag with my Ruby paint, added some white stenciling with White Linen Dylusions and my Plastic Canvas stencil. When it was dry, I cut the hats. I love to give them an extra swirly point, it gives them a touch of whimsy. Don't forget to outline any elements you want to stand out with the Fudeball pen.
What stamps do you have that you can reinvent with a holiday makeover? I can't wait to see!
